Today we're taking a delicious dive into two of our much-loved products… VEGAN HONEEE and FRUIT SYRUP.
first up, let’s talk VEGAN HONEEE
We have said it before, but we will say it again… all too often, honey is mistaken as vegan friendly. Spoiler alert: it’s not. Honey is made by bees for bees, and their health can be sacrificed when it is harvested by humans. That's when our VEGAN HONEEE comes to the rescue! It gives the same golden goodness, without involving our buzzing buddies – a win win if you ask us. We love drizzling it on toast, pancakes, crumpets, sweetening coffees, smoothies… you get the picture!
next up, FRUIT SYRUP
Our original product, and still the most versatile syrup yet! Again, it is perfect for sweetening up coffee or matcha, adding to both sweet and savoury dishes… the possibilities really are endless with this one. And don’t just take our word for it when we say it’s tasty, as it’s a multiple is Great Taste Award winner, too!
but where does Sweet Freedom’s sweetness come from?
This is a question we get a lot, and one we can answer with ease and our head held high… apple, carob, and grape (grape is just in our FRUIT SYRUP).
The natural sugars are extracted from these fruits using a water process – meaning there are no nasty chemicals or enzymes in sight, and fructose levels are kept nice and low at just 16g per 100g.This is more than half the amount of fructose found in high fructose corn syrup (HFCS, or agave - which can contain up to 90%).
Fructose is metabolised in the liver and when over consumed can lead to all sorts of health issues – including insulin resistance, obesity, and liver disorders.
